Educational ActivitiesThe Company is committed to the furtherance of education generally and in particular to education for the profession of Chartered Secretary and Administrator. This is a task shared with the Company’s Charitable Trust and with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.Through its Education Committee, the Company provides active support to many organisations and individuals both in London and nationally. Through its Charitable Trust, many bursaries and prizes are awarded at academic institutions throughout the country. The Charitable Trust awards prizes to the best students in the administration and logistic branches of the three armed services each year. Apprenticeship SchemeThe Apprenticeship Scheme was launched in 2001. Up to six young people may be apprenticed to an Apprentice Master each year. The Education Committee oversees the scheme and matches Apprentices to Liverymen suitable to act as Apprentice Masters.Click here for more information. Rokeby SchoolRokeby School is a Secondary school for boys aged 11-16 in Newham, London E15. There are over 750 students and they come from a very wide range of ethnic and cultural heritages. Many come from areas where there are high levels of social and economic deprivation. The Company provides members of the Governing Body and other Liverymen are providing practical support to the management team and to students. The University of East LondonFollowing the launch by the Company of the Sir Edward Howard Memorial Prize at the University in 2001, further links have been established both within the Business School and the University in general.City & GuildsThe City & Guilds of London Institute, founded in 1878, is one of the leading providers of business courses and has always been supported by Livery companies. Young EnterpriseYoung Enterprise (YE) is a national business-led charitable body established to inspire and educate young people to understand the role of business in society. Programmes of business activity for students aged 14-19 are supported, thus applying the philosophy of “learning by doing”. YE is also an opportunity to introduce young people to the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and to the profession of Chartered Secretary and Administrator. Liverymen:
Help for Students and GraduatesIn association with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, the Committee is the link between Liverymen willing to assist students or recent graduates requiring special help in furthering their business careers.
